Great weekend for a championship meet

The weather sure cooperated for the meet this weekend  --  if the kids were going to be wet anyway why not rain and drizzle nonstop.  It makes the heated pool feel even better.  At least that's what I kept telling myself as the whole team huddled under the canopy not enjoying the dreary weather.

Luckily the swimming was good as Bill had prepared them for this championship meet.  Personal bests littered the results sheet even after last week's torrent of time drops.  Caitlen had her second straight perfect meet, recording personal bests in all 4 events that she entered.  While Olivia's perfect meet was in 3 events, dropping a total of 6.43 seconds in these swims.

Coming very close to this accomplishment was young Gabe, getting 6 of 8 personal bests, good enough to put him on the Zone 2 All Star team.  That is one fast young man (on top of his detailed knowledge of the weekend's NBA games).

For new standards, Camille bounced back from the DQ in the 50 back last meet and got an official JO time on Sunday; there was even an official standing in her lane watching her flip turn.  Justine added to her stable of JOs in the 200 IM and 100 back; I overheard Bill calling the 200 IM the Queen of Events, that might just catch on.

There were a plethora of new A times for the team.  Chelsea, Sidney and Mallory each recorded two new ones...Sidney proudly pinned her A time medals to her parka though I hear the final resting place is to have them hang on her wall next to her ribbon collection.  Laura, Sarah B, and Jolen all got new A times.  Unexpectedly, Laura's wasn't in her breast stroke specialty but in the 50 free instead.

I'm pretty sure that nobody told me about rainy day meets like this when I signed up to be a swim parent but the fast times make it worthwhile.
