First things first, not one bit of Valentine's branding for a meet called Cupid's Classic. I was expecting some hearts here and there, possibly a baby with a crossbow or something. But, nope, nothing Valentiney at all. But the name wasn't *all* wrong, it was a classic swim meet.
This was the first meet of the session, so you would expect some new personal best times. The kids hadn't swam in a meet since November (except for one swimmer who keeps going to "rogue" meets) so they had a lot of practice time under their caps to take advantage of. But I did not expect *this* many personal bests. 26 swimmers swam 175 races with 108 personal bests (and 16 first time swims). For repeat swims, that is 68% personal bests. Wow.
There were 31 new B times (this is important with the Zone 2 Championships coming up in two weeks) and 15 new A times. Oh, and one new JO that got lost to a DQ.
Phoebe, Liana and Caitlin all had "perfect meets", swimming a personal best in every single race they entered. If Montclair keeps up this pace, we're going to need a bigger record book!
